OPTIMA(H)L CATERING FOR THE INDUSTRY GET-TOGETHER
Already for the 10th time the visitBerlin Berlin Convention Office (BCO) opened its doors to the business event, Meeting Place Berlin, from the 11th to the 15th of July 2019. As a premium partner, Optimahl provided an inspiring catering service for the culinary well-being of the event guests.
“Meeting Place Berlin” serves as a platform for decision-makers from congress and industry as well as the acquisition of congress and similar events for the city of Berlin.
The principle is as simple as it is convincing: 50 local hand-picked companies from the Berlin event scene come together with around 150 carefully selected companies from international and national organisers and promoters of major congresses. In addition to company presentations and on-location visits, the invited organisers will experience an extensive and attractive accompanying programme. Berlin, therefore, shows its best side when it comes to events and congresses.
Optimahl, as a partner and catering company from Berlin, was not to be missed. On July 12th and 13th, 2019 Optimahl spoiled the guests of the respective daily program in the well-known Café Moskau in the immediate vicinity of Alexanderplatz. With optima(h)l moments of enjoyment, the participants were catered to from morning until the end of the event in the afternoon.
ENERGETIC COFFEE BREAK
The coffee break in the morning strengthened the guests for the upcoming day with sweet and healthy delicacies, such as freshly mixed drinking cereals with strawberries, buttermilk and oat flakes. We also treated the participants with French croissants and nut nougat croissants as well as strawberries served with limes and mint.
LUNCH MIT LIVE-COOKING
For lunch, visitors were able to choose from many creative starters: Decorated glasses with Calamaretti salad served with watermelon, soy sauce and pickled ginger. Goat cheese with red pimento, coarse pepper and rye bread chips as well as a potato and cucumber salad with mini meatballs, mustard cream and fried parsley. Alternatively, we served fermented root vegetables with the following choices; Ceviche from Scottish salmon, Pastrami from the cured breast of beef or roasted yoghurt.
The pasta station setup the main course. There were fresh noodles with rocket and pesto served in a hollowed out parmesan wheel or potato ravioli with spinach salad and truffle. Guests could choose between small medallions of veal fillet, small saltimboccas of corn poulard or piccatas of king oyster mushroom. Another option, was cod cooked in a salt crust and freshly filleted with a side of potatoes.

SWEET & FRUITY TEMPTATIONS FOR DESSERT
The dessert didn’t have to hide either, as is traditional for Optimahl. As a basis for the Sweet Poke Bowl, we served either sweet sushi rice with coconut milk, sweet crêpes stripes with Tahiti vanilla or brownie cubes. The summer fruits; mango, pineapple, watermelon and strawberries were a refreshingly fruity addition to the dessert. We also did not come short with the sauce. There was a tough choice between different spiced chocolate sauces such as whole milk, lavender, pear, white chocolate, ginger, lime or lemongrass. We also included “Toppings from Berlin”: rice that puffs, fruits with a crunch, nuts panned in sugar and the very popular amaranth.
A popular addition to the dessert selection and of course a highlight at this event was the Optimahl ice cream parlour. Under the theme: “BERLIN BERLIN”, the ice cream programme enthused the summer of 2019 with regional ingredients in the varieties: Ei³ (egg), cherry chamomile pop rocks, red fruit jelly with vanilla sauce, werderan Apple-Pear-Elderberry tree blossom, Emma ́s Dessert cream cheese & organic honey, Berliner Luft (Berlin Air) – white peppermint and hedgehog slice with nougat. There was also a choice of imaginative toppings with ice cream such as mini-marshmallows, puff-rice meringue, nuts, buttercrumble, and crunchy fruits.
COOL DRINKS & VITAMIN-RICH SMOOTHIES
The bar was healthy with summer drinks. Just as popular as it was invigorating; the detox lemonade with water and optionally with fruity crushed ice or coconut ice cubes. Equally popular refreshment were the freshly mixed tea smoothies with the melodious names:
- “The Healthy One”: Green Apple – Avocado Smoothie with Green Tea and Lime.
- “The Relaxed One.” Honeydew melon – Strawberry smoothie with vanilla – Rooibos tea and white peppermint.
- “The Wake-up Man” Grapefruit – Passion fruit – Pomegranate smoothie with black tea and corn sugar.
- “The Vitamin Enricher” Orange – Carrot – Kiwi smoothie with Ginger – Lemongrass Tea and our Organic Honey.
The insider tip of the Optimahl team was the freshly squeezed OJ in a tumbler with wheatgrass ice cubes.
BRAINFOOD FOR IN BETWEEN
For refreshments during the breaks there were healthy snacks and brainfood to take away in the Entrance area. These included various energy-rich snacks such as nuts, vegetable chips and biscuits, homemade muesli bars consisting of dried fruit with organic honey and sandwiches served in the glasses with salmon, ham, cheese, salad and cucumber.
All in all, it was a perfectly tailored catering, suiting the intensive day of introductions between locations and event organisers, which made the feeling of not wanting to miss the next event that much stronger.
